What product should I use to poison overgrown lomandras?

It seems a shame to poison your Lomandras. Have you tried just pruning them down or dividing the plants and putting them in another garden bed. Digging them out is probably the best way of thinning them out. Perhaps your neighbours or friends might be grateful for some new plants to put in their gardens.
