Is murraya paniculata toxic

I have been told that phonicia is toxic and not sure about murraya. Bottlebrushes are another alternative we were thinking about. Any advice would be good - we want to screen out prying eyes.

Dear Tracey,

Murraya paniculata is not a poisonous plant. It is in the same family as Citrus. Murraya is particularly suited to hedging. It prefers a well drained, fertile soil and does well when protected from strong winds. Prune regularly to encorage a thickly well branching shrub from the ground upwards. Bottlebrush is also a excellent shrub and forms a lovely hedge when pruned each year after flowering. They also attract birds to the garden which is a real bonus. There are quite a number of species, some more upright in growth habit and other with a weeping habit. Trust you will enjoy growing and establishing your hedge.
