Why does my small bottlebrush tree have cobwebs on the branches
I have a small bottlebrush tree that grows to approx 1.5m at the front of my house which faces north and under the eaves. It has all these cobwebs on the branches. There was a groundcover covering the bottom but has been cut away. Can you please tell me what is wrong and what I need to do to fix it.
Dear Michelle,
There are not too many pests that attack Callistemons. There is a webbing caterpillar that can do some damage but usally you can control this pest by hand removal. If you need to spray, Yates Success Ultra with control this caterpillar.
Could the cobwebs just be spider cobwebs and not doing any harm to your plants? If you are worried and unsure you can always take a sample down to your local nursery for identification.
