What kind of lawn should we lay in the Wheatbelt WA?

The sand is black and fine where we want to lay the lawn and we only want a small area of grass but we arent sure what type of lawn will be good enough to last the long hit summers out here.

Hi Renae,

A good grass seed variety we could recommend for your area would be Couch grass. It is a strong running grass which forms a dense mat of hard wearing turf. It is heat resistant and tolerates dry weather better than most grasses. It will grow in full sun but does not respond well to shady areas. The seed can be sown in late spring or early summer when the soils are warm enough to ensure good germination of the seed. Couch can also be purchased in rolls from your local turf supplier. Keep your lawn is good condition by apply a fertiliser such as Lawn Master in spring and then again in Autumn.
