What is the minimum depth I should plant baby beets and carrots

Wanting to plant baby beets and carrots in planter boxes. What is the minimum depth of soil????? Pete

General Advice • Garden Jobs

Baby beets are relatively shallow rooted so you should base the the planter box on the depth of the carrot. As to how you need to make it for the carrot, it depends on what type of carrot you are growing. Baby carrots or perisian round carrots don't produce a long tap root and only need 30cm of soil but long carrots may need up to 50cm of soil.
