Can I grow veggies on an old sandbox? Is impossible to remove the sand but there's space for soil.

Dear Nancy,

You can use certainly use the sandpit in which to grow your vegies. I am not sure how much sand is still in the sandpit. You would need to add soil that has been enriched with plenty of organic matter in order to get your crops growing strongly. It is important to have free draining soil but if there is too much sand, you will find that it will drain too readily and it won't be able to hold the necessary nutrients your vegies will need to thrive. Also your vegies will need to receive at least 6 hours of sunlight each day. It is hard to tell from your photo if this spot is going to be sunny enough. Enjoy growing your vegies and harvesting lots of delicious fresh food.
