I have a lemon tree that has some branches with large leaves and small spikes and the other half of the branches are 3 small leaves and huge spikes? It has produced a lemon off the large leaf branch. Is this a mixed citrus plant or is this natural for a lemon tree to have different types of leave structure?

Hi Denni,
Citrus trees are grafted onto rootstock to reduce the incidence of disease. Occasionally the root stock from below the graft will shoot and this has large thorns.
Remove the root stock and check the graft to see that it is healthy. Fertilise the tree with Yates Dynamic Lifter Plant Fertiliser or Thrive for Citrus.
