Hi Cass,

Thank you for contacting us regarding your passion fruit. In general the yellow passionfruit is more cold sensetive than the purple variety. There are a few possible reasons that can reduce fruit setting. Firstly, how old is your vine? Passion fruit generally come into production from 18-24 months so you may find a better crop in the second year. Secondly, fruits that have been stung by fruit fly will shrivel and drop. Try Yates Nature's Way Fruit Fly Control. It works by tricking the insect into absorbing the spinosad that has been combined with an irresistible bait. Too much nitrogen and not enough potassium could affect flower and fruit setting as well.In addition to regular use of complete fertiliser such as Dynamic Lifter Advanced for fruit and Citrus, use Yates Trace Element Mix every 3 months to avoid boron deficiency. Try to maintain regular watering and avoid fluctuations in soil moisture say deeply water once a week. Hope you will have a better crop next year. Hope this helps and happy gardening. Best Regards, Louise Yates Horticulturalist
