Why does my Paw Paw tree have black spots all over it?

Paw Paw trees have black spots on leaves & fruit. What is it? How do I treat it? Organically.

Hi Tracey, Unfortunately, paw paws are susceptible to black spot during the cooler months of the year. You can spray with a copper spray prior to the onset of the cool weather. What is most important is that you keep the tree healthy so it is able to fight against this fungal disease. Ensure that your tree receives ample amounts of potassium and magnesium. Both of these elements can be purchased in a powder form and can be watered in around the root system of the plant on a monthly basis. If you give your tree a well balanced fertiliser such as Yates Thrive Natural Citrus & Fruit Pelletised Plant Food both in spring and autumn this will apply the nutrients the tree needs to keep it healthy.
