What are these growths on the trunk and branches of my Ballerina Apple Tree?
Now that my Ballerina Apple Tree is losing its leaves I have noticed that there are growths/swellings on the trunk and branches. Is this gall wasps? How do I best treat this problem and prevent it from reoccuring? Many thanks, Lynn
This image looks very much like apple canker. A canker is a deformed and diseased area of bark. The following website describes the symptoms of this disease as well as the solutions. http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/advice/pests_and_diseases/identifier.shtml?apple_canker You may also be interested in the You tube video showing how to rid your fruit tree of canker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg7G7Cuox7E
