I wish to use lime sulphur to counteract powdery mildew in apple tres

However my trees are delicious and cox’s orange varieties, and according to the package, the spray cannot be used on these species. When is the reason for this advice?

Fruit and Citrus • Diseases

Unfortunately, Lime Sulfur may cause damage to the Delicious or Cox's Orange varieties of apple trees.
To reduce fungal disease we recommend:
- Avoid overhead watering
- Water in the morning
- Improve drainage
- Improve ventilation by pruning or thinning foliage/branches
- remove mulch at the base of the plant to allow water to evaporate
- Well fed plants are less likely to be attacked by pests and diseases
- Improve availability of light
Healthy and well-fed plants are less prone to pest and disease attack.  Apply the Thrive Citrus & Fruit Liquid Plant Food weekly during flowering to ensure plenty of fruit production.
Try 'Yates Thrive Citrus & Fruit Liquid Plant Food' as a complete, liquid plant food that provides your citrus trees with the balanced nutrients they require for healthy growth, fruit production and development.
