Will a coir mat under a tree affect its growth?

My sister gave me a small frangipani tree in a pot. I transplanted it into the garden but have just realised there was a coir mat at the base of the pot which was closely attached to the root system and soil and that went into the garden with the tree. Will the mat affect the tree's ability to put down roots. Should I dig out the tree and remove it?

Flowers and Ornamentals • Plants

We recommend digging out the frangipani tree and removing the mat and the pot from the tree.  The mat will impact the ability of the tree to access nutrients and moisture.  It also may cause the tree's growth to be stunted.  Otherwise, it may fall over if it becomes top heavy.
After transplanting the tree and getting it settled back into position in the garden, we recommend 'Yates Thrive Roses & Flowers Natural Fish & Seaweed+ Concentrate' as a complete fertiliser to assist with healthy growth and prolific, beautiful flowers. Click here for more info on this product:
