Help, my sick cycad needs help

my young cycad has yellow spot on the leaves and some leaves turn yellow/brown. it seems like new leaves dont come out anymore...not sure if it's due to the harsh summer weather or the pests...cant see any pests on the leaves though

Hi Lilian,

Thank you for sending the photo. I cannot see any pests on the plants. Perhaps you might like to look underneath the leaves and on the fronds to make sure there is no scale present. Brown scale is particularly fond of cycads and because of their sucking action, they can cause yellow marks to appear on the fronds. Spraying with PestOil will control this pest. If it has been a little while since you fertilised your cycad, you might like to feed your plant with either a slow release fertiliser or use a Yates product called Yates Dynamic Lifter Liquid Concentrate. It's certified for use in organic gardens, and contains seaweed, blood&bone and fish meal to help developing new roots and restoring healthy growth. You might like to prune off those lower affected fronds to tidy up the look of the plant. I am sure will a little TLC your plant will respond well to the care. Happy gardening
