Teddy Bear Magnolia is not flowering
4 years ago I planted 'Teddy Bear' Magnolias, but they are still not flowering. What is the reason, and can you please tell me what fertiliser best?
- Inadequate light. Magnolias flower best with at least 3-4 hours direct sunlight.
- Nutrient balance: Excess high nitrogen fertiliser. All purpose fertilisers and lawn fertiliser are very high in Nitrogen (N) which promotes leafy growth and prevents flowering growth.
- Lack of nutrients.
It is best to use a fertiliser that is specially formulated for growing flowers, such as Yates Thrive Natural Roses & Flowers Organic Based Pelletised Plant Food
