What are the black spots on my little gem magnolias
it is in a pot. no saucer. no fertilizer has been added.leaves have little spots the stems are changing colour. is this a natural characteristic of the plant or is it diseased?
Thank you for sending the photo. It does look like a bacterial leaf spot. The fungus can be spread by moisture so it is advisable to remove any infected leaves to protect the rest of the plant from further infection. Check the pot to make sure it is draining well and the drainage holes are not blocked. Water the tree only when it needs it. You can apply a copper spray such Yates Leaf Curl Copper Fungicide Spray . Spray the plant when signs of infection are first noticed and repeat every 10 - 14 days. To help your plant recover, there is an excellent product you can apply called Uplift Plant Starter & Root Booster. Apply this product to the soil now and then again after two weeks. It will give your magnolia the lift it needs during this period of stress.
