How It Works

Cyfluthrin is a synthetic pyrethroid, which is a fast-acting contact insecticide, with long lasting residual activity at low doses and rapid knockdown.

How to use

How to prepare

Add the required quantity of Baythroid to water and mix thoroughly. As a guide, this cap holds 15mL. Do not mix more spray than can be used on the day of mixing.

How to use

DO NOT spray when soil is dry and plants are suffering from moisture stress or when conditions are hot.

PLANT / SITUATION PESTS RATE HOW TO APPLY
Lawns (not Tasmania) Adult African black beetle, mole crickets. Baythroid will not control white curl grubs (scarab larvae) in the soil Garden sprayer: Mix 40mL in 5L of water and evenly spray onto 50m2 of lawn.
Watering can: Mix 16ml in 8 to 10L of water and evenly water onto 20m2 of lawn. If mole cricket numbers are very high, use double these rates.
Apply as an overall treatment to recently mown lawn as follows: 1. Lightly water the lawn. 2. Apply Baythroid in a watering can or garden sprayer. 3. Water lawn thoroughly to move product into soil. The equivalent of 12mm of irrigation is usually required. Repeat treatment if necessary.
Lawn grubs (eg. cutworm, webworm) Apply late afternoon as an overall treatment to recently mown lawn. Lightly water the lawn before applying. Repeat treatment if necessary. When treating a dense lawn with a garden sprayer, lightly water lawn before and after spraying.
Azaleas, hibiscus, pelargoniums, roses Aphids, bugs (eg. passionvine hopper, mealybug, lace bug), caterpillars, garden weevil, whiteflies, thrips Mix 3ml per 1L of water. Spray foliage thoroughly when insects are first seen or if they reappear, including underneath leaf surfaces. DO NOT spray if it is raining or it is about to rain.
Beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbages, cauliflowers, peas, tomatoes
Native plants Sawfly larvae
Garden and outdoor areas Earwigs, millipedes (not SA) Mix 3ml per 1L of water. Spray pests and surfaces thoroughly when they are first seen or if they reappear.
Spiders Mix 30ml per 1L of water Spray spiders, their webs, and crevices. Do not remove webs for a few days.
Ants Where possible locate the nest and spray. If nest is inaccessible, spray all infested areas.
Fleas (not SA) Lightly spray all infested areas. Treat pets with an animal flea control product.

Precautions

Witholding Periods

DO NOT PICK: VEGETABLES (EXCEPT BEANS AND TOMATOES) FOR 7 DAYS AFTER SPRAYING. BEANS AND TOMATOES FOR 1 DAY AFTER SPRAYING. DO NOT GRAZE TREATED LAWNS OR FEED LAWN CLIPPINGS FROM ANY TREATED AREA TO POULTRY OR LIVESTOCK.

Caution

FLAMMABLE, KEEP AWAY FROM NAKED FLAME

DO NOT allow chemical containers or spray to get into drains, sewers, streams or ponds. Dangerous to fish. Cover fish tanks or ponds before using. Keep pets and children off treated areas until spray has dried.

Storage and disposal

Store in the closed, original container in a cool, dry place out of the reach of children. Do not store in direct sunlight. Dispose of empty container by wrapping in paper, placing in plastic bag and putting in garbage.

Safety directions

Will irritate the eyes and skin. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. When preparing the spray, wear rubber gloves. After use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water. After each day’s use wash gloves.

First aid

If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre on 131126. If in eyes, hold eyes open, flood with water for at least 15 minutes and see a doctor.
