The Problem

White Louse Scale

Unaspis citri

White louse scale is a common pest that infests citrus trees. Infestations usually start on the trunk and main limbs and spread rapidly up to the tips of the twigs. The scales may also move on to the leaves and fruit. White louse scale can result in leaf fall, twig dieback and large limbs may even be killed.

Symptoms

Small, white coverings that somewhat resemble fragments of desiccated coconut scattered over the bark. Female scale coverings are inconspicuous and similar in colour to the bark.
