Growing Tomatoes

Step 1:

Choose a sunny spot with good soil or fill a pot with a top quality Yates potting mix. Mix some compost or old manure into the soil, together with some Yates Dynamic Lifter pellets.

Step 2:

Sow the Yates tomato seeds (in spring or early summer) Remember, tomatoes like warm weather so they should be planted during the warm part of the year.

Avoid letting the bed or pot dry out by watering regularly.

Step 3:

Tall growing tomatoes will need stakes or a fence nearby for support. Use soft ties (strips of old stocking are good) to attach the plant to the stakes as it grows.

Feed every two weeks with Thrive Flower & Fruit.

Step 4:

Watch out for birds and other pests trying to eat the tomatoes as they ripen. You may need to put a net over the whole plant or tie paper bags around each tomato (hard to do with cherry tomatoes!) Make sure the paper bags have some drainage holes.

Leave your tomatoes on the plants until they’re as red as possible. This way they’ll have the best flavour.

After about 16 weeks your tomatoes should be fully grown and ready to eat.

DELICIOUS!
