Create a Citrus Garden
Citrus fruits help keep winter sniffles at bay, and growing your own ensures that you’ll have plenty of fresh fruit to enjoy.
- Citrus can be grown in a well-drained, sunny garden spot or in a large container. When growing citrus in pots, choose varieties that are grafted onto a dwarfing rootstock (‘Flying Dragon’ is popular).
- Feed ever-hungry citrus at least twice a year in early spring and late summer with Thrive Granular Citrus Food. Water in well after application.
- Potted citrus should be fed with Thrive Once a year feeder for Trees, Shrubs and Citrus.
- Always keep the root area well mulched, but make sure that mulch doesn’t come in contact with the trunk.
- Citrus are prone to root rot so must have good drainage. An annual treatment with Yates Anti Rot will build their resistance to this disease.
- Apply PestOil regularly to prevent and control scale pests, aphids and citrus leaf miner.
