How do you kill onion weed?

Submitted: 02:48PM, 20 Oct 2009
Answer: Onion weed, nut grass, bulb forming oxalis, and other similar weeds are notoriously difficult to kill. Get the Zero onto the green parts of the plant, either by carefully spraying or by dabbing with neat Zerofrom a weeding brush. Onion weed’s glossy leaves will repel the herbicide so it’s sometimes helpful to suggest adding a few drops of household washing up detergent to the spraying solution. The herbicide will kill the main bulb but the side bulblets will then detach themselves and send up new shoots. These must also be treated.

We will give this a try and hopefully the oxalis will die off, can you tell me about how long this will take to get rid of it all, we did not have any in our garden until we moved some large stones from next door.
    Thanking you for your help.

    Hi,
I asked the same question. I moved into our new [second hand] home and inherited it.

Kerosine for onion weed, paint leaves, and soak a little into the ground. for weeds in cracks of paths I use white vinegar, works on some grasses too, apply it when soil is dry.
