Will possums eat silverbeet if I plant it?

I would like to grow some silver beet but possums demolish almost everything I attempt to grow. They eat my grapefruit (even green ones), tamarillos, capsicum, roses, etc. I have tried various things - the best of which has been Scat, but they always win in the end.
I despair of being able to have any fresh vegetables. Can you suggest anything?

Answer: If possums are devouring other edibles in your garden it is highly likely they will eat your silverbeet. The only way you can prevent them from doing this is by establishing some kind of barrier.It may sound drastic but, erecting a cage like structure, including roof, around your plants may be the only solution.
