Thank you for contacting Yates.

It’s common to see splitting pumpkin due to over watering or feeding. I would suggest to stop watering and feeding once the shell has hardened. Also for future reference, try to grow pumpkins in mounted soil and dig in some Dynamic Lifter Organic Plant Food before planting to improve soil structure and drainage. The good news is, most splitting pumpkin should heal and form a scab over the split area.
