Queensland blue pumpkin flowers but does not fruit

Submitted: 03:38PM, 18 Jan 2016
Answer: Pollination is one of the most common problems with pumpkins. The most likely cause of your problem is incomplete pollination. Pumpkins have separate male and female flowers. If a female flower is not pollinated then it will merely fall off and you will not get a pumpkin. If your garden is lacking pollinators (Bees and other insects) then you will need to hand pollinate the flowers. Just use a soft brush to move some pollen from a male flower to a female flower while they are open.
You will also want to make sure your plant is in good health by watering regularly and using Thrive Flower and Fruit soluble fertiliser. If a plant is stressed it will also drop flowers and not develop fruit.
